Who needs a licence & how to buy

  • Any angler aged 12 or older must have a rod licence.
  • In addition to holding a licence, you will also need to obtain the landowner's permission to fish in rivers and lakes.
  • Full licences (including all concessionary full licences) expire on 31st March.
  • You may apply in person at participating Post Office branches.
  • You may apply by calling the Environment Agency on 0844 800 5386.
  • You may apply via the Environment Agency website
  • You may apply online via this website (for a small extra fee)
  • Buy online at www.postoffice.co.uk, by doing so, you will not incur any additional service.
  • Concessions available: Senior - for age 65+,
    Junior - for age 12-16 & Disabled
  • Rod Fishing Licences expire on 31 March each year - make sure you're up to date

Rodlicence.net offers you third party data processing services, for which we charge a service and administration fee of £5.00 for short-term licences and £20.00 for full licences. Customers may also purchase a rod licence through the Post Office - either in the high street or online at www.postoffice.co.uk. By doing so, you will not incur any additional service fee over and above the cost of the rod licence itself (cost is dependent upon which type of licence you require), but the features below will not be included. The benefits of buying through ourselves are detailed above, our fees are:
Short-term: £8.75/day, Short-term salmon: £13.00/day, Full trout & coarse licence: £47.00
Whereas official site charges:
Short-term: £3.00/day, Short-term salmon: £8.00/day, Full trout & coarse licence: £27.00
